We’re excited to be trialling our very first Mummy’s Wish Support Group! In addition to our private Mummy’s Wish Facebook Group, this support group will run over Microsoft Teams, facilitated by one of our Support Coordinators. The group will be an opportunity to connect and have a real conversation with other mums who understand the challenges and emotions that go with a cancer diagnosis.

Mummy’s Wish is currently sitting at more than $90,000 in funds raised throughout Dry July. More than 400 people signed up to go dry and support us, and we’re so grateful to all of you and to everyone who helped make a difference – whether that was through donations or moral support!

During June, we’ve welcomed two large volunteer groups from the pharmaceutical company, AstraZeneca, to our office. They’ve been busily stuffing Comfort Bears to be sent out to the children of mums diagnosed with cancer – with plenty of friendly competition along the way! A huge thank you to these wonderful volunteers who have filled bears with stuffing, recordable hearts and even a test hug or two so they go out to families with a little extra love.

Three days before Christmas last year, and five days before her 33rd birthday, Sydney mum Rhiannon received the news she had cancer. She’d found a lump in her breast during a routine self-check.

It's been a busy time for Mummy's Wish, with 92 mums registering for our service in May alone - equivalent to about three every single day. When a mum with cancer reaches out to us, we provide practical support like helping pay for cleaning or healthy cooked meals, as well as someone to listen and connect mums with other services. We also send out a care pack to each new mum who registers with us, including information, books and our much-loved Comfort Bears with recordable hearts.
