October 2024 Newsletter

11 Nov 2024

Hi there,

We’re privileged to be able to support so many families affected by cancer. We provide practical support that allows mums to spend more time doing the things that really matter – focusing on your wellbeing and spending quality time with your family. Thanks to the support we receive from our community, we’ve been able to support approximately 700 new families already this year.

We recently held our first-ever Mummy’s Wish live support group. Complementing our existing closed Facebook Group, our support groups run by videoconference or phone and are facilitated by one of our Support Coordinators. You can come along and offer tips and advice, ask questions, share experiences, or just listen. So if you’re curious to see what it’s all about and whether it could be helpful for you, email us to be added to the invitation.

Warm regards,

The Mummy’s Wish team

We couldn't do what we do without the incredible support from our community. Thank you to all the people and organisations who choose to fundraise for us.

Family and friends take on hike in memory of Annette

On Saturday, people of all ages will be hitting the trail to climb Walsh’s Pyramid in Gordonvale, Queensland – the world’s highest natural pyramid. It’s a hike Annette Azzopardi completed back in 2018, raising funds for Mummy’s Wish. Annette passed away from ovarian cancer in 2019. Since then, her story has inspired family and friends to keep up the hike in her memory.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

We know there are many families in our community that have been affected by breast cancer.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and although Mummy's Wish is here to support mums with all types of cancer, we acknowledge and recognise all those mums who have been diagnosed with all types of breast cancer, sending love and strength for your treatment and beyond.

Thank you to our amazing volunteers

We’ve recently been welcoming groups of volunteers to help stuff our beloved Comfort Bears, which are distributed to children of mums with cancer. When Lance joined a volunteer day with his workplace AstraZeneca recently, he was inspired to make an even bigger contribution. He got his teenage children involved, contributing to their Duke of Edinburgh Award while making a tangible difference for mums with cancer. Together they stuffed another 72 bears that will soon be sent out to provide special comfort to young children in our community. Thank you Lance, Ilana and Leo!

If you’re local to Bowral and would like to join one of our volunteer days, we’d love you to send us an email.

We'd love to hear from you!
